King Fahad International Airport is one of Saudi Arabia’s major aviation hubs. The airport was opened in 1999 and is the largest in the world in terms of area.1 The airport mainly serves Dammam, Dhahran, Khobar, Qatif, Ras Tanura, and Jubail.
Challenge
For a modern airport, the parking was being mismanaged. Airport authorities were looking for technology to help better control vehicle access and provide a new layer of security.
Solution
Al Musbah Group, parking division, took over operations and ForeVision was called upon to improve the parking operations for the airport by implementing the SecuPark parking management systems which is multilingual and fully functional. Number Plate information is collected and linked with authority’s in order to catch any black listed vehicles. To do the integration, ForeVision’s networking team implemented a fiber optic LAN infrastructure, which is also being used to provide Voice over IP (VOIP) at no extra cost. Barriers control 16 gates at the airport with an average of 5000 cars passing through daily.
