More and more, countries are adopting international standards for passports and visas,
which are being driven by technology that dramatically reduces processing times and increases the
level of security. Passport’s and Visa’s now include many security features embedded in its pages,
the latest including Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to store images and information.
In addition to security, international standards call for a Machine Readable Zone (MRZ),
in order to process information reliably through Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
